Star India batters Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer were heard arguing on the stump mic, as they debated on a call for a single during the second ODI against Australia, which is being played at the Adelaide Oval. They put on 118 runs for the third wicket after yet another top-order collapse induced by the Aussie pace bowling unit in the must-win game. Both Rohit and Iyer had to survive a hard phase on a tricky pitch against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Xavier Bartlett. Rohit had survived a run-out call early on with skipper Shubman Gill at the other end after a mix-up and a late call. During the 14th over, a ball from Hazlewood struck Rohit on the pads and deflected towards the off side near the track. The latter showed interest in a quick single but had to pull back after receiving no response from the non-striker, Iyer. After the chance for a single slipped away, an annoyed Rohit questioned Iyer about the lack of communication. The latter responded that it was not his call to make. “Aae Shreyas, hoyega yeh (Shreyas, there was a run),” Rohit said. “Arre aap karke dekho, mere ko mat bolo na phir (You try it, don’t tell me),” Iyer replied. “Arre tereko call dena padhega. Wo saatwa over daal raha hai yaar. (You have to call for the run),” Rohit said. “Mujhe uska angle pata nahi hai. Call do naa! (I don’t know the angle he is bowling from. Please you take the call),” Iyer replied. “Main nahi de sakta hu ye call (I can’t call for this),” Rohit said. “Saamne hai aapke (It’s in front of you),” Iyer reiterated, insisting the former take the call for a run.
