Marc Cucurella had a quiet evening against Wolves, but Alan Smith has revealed one thing which has surprised him about the Spaniard. Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners against Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening to temporarily move up to second in the league. Malo Gusto opened the scoring with the first goal of his senior career, whilst Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto also got on the scoresheet. Alan Smith makes Marc Cucurella claim As has become the norm this season Enzo Maresca once again made a number of changes to the starting line-up. Cucurella was one player to retain his place from the 2-2 draw against Qarabag in midweek, and the Spain international was part of a backline that has now recorded back to back clean sheets in the league for the fist time sine May. The 27-year-old is one of Chelsea’s best and most consistent performers, and popped up with a number of key goals last season. Cucurella has yet to score this season, and former Arsenal striker Smith, who was commentating on the game admitted he was surprised the Spain international didn’t score more goals. “Given his attacking role, it is surprising Cucurella does not score more goals,” he told Sky Sports. Cucurella scored seven goals last season, and given the attacking positions full backs pick up in Maresca’s system it won’t be long until he’s on the scoresheet again this season. Enzo Maresca impressed with Malo Gusto Whilst Cucurella has been in brilliant form, it seems Gusto is now starting to get back to the form he showed in his first season at Chelsea. Maresca was delighted he finally scored his first goal, and labelled Gusto as one of Chelsea’s most important players. Chelsea reportedly have plans to offer Gusto a contract extension, and he’s once again going to be a key player this season.
