'If Congress Held Fair Elections, Shashi Tharoor Would Have Become Congress President,' Claims BJP’s Jaiveer Shergill

New Delhi: Supreme Court lawyer and BJP national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has made a big remark, saying that Shashi Tharoor would have been the Congress President had there been fair polling in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) elections. Speaking to ANI in an interview, Jaiveer Shergill claimed that Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari were not provided with the voters' list in the AICC election. Targeting Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi over his 'voter chori' allegation against the Election Commission, Jaiveer Shergill said that he has a lot to answer. Jaiveer Shergill recalled when Shashi Tharoor publicly asked, "Where was the voter list?" He also mentioned Manish Tewari's statement, who said on record that 500-odd names were either deleted or added. Shergill advised Rahul Gandhi to first bring transparency to party elections before making allegations of 'vote chori' against the poll body. "The Congress Constitution says every three years, the voter list has to be revised. If there were fair elections in the Congress party, Tharoor would have been the president of the Congress party. If Rahul Gandhi is true to his cause, forget other allegations. Do it in your party and answer. Then why didn’t the public see the voter list of the AICC? So that is why I said it’s not vote theft, it’s logic theft," Jaiveer Shergill told ANI. "Rahul Gandhi’s 'Vote Chori' campaign doesn’t even have resonance beyond his own house," Shergill said. In another statement, Jaiveer Shergill highlighted the drug issue in Punjab, saying addicts there were harassing their own families, mothers, and sisters. Congress Releases Star Campaigners For Bihar In another development related to the Congress party, Congress has released its star campaigners list for next month's Bihar elections. According to the list, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Kanhaiya Kumar and Independent MP Pappu Yadav are among the 40 star campaigners for the first phase of the Bihar assembly polls. AICC in-charge of Bihar Krishna Allavaru, Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram, Congress general secretaries KC Venugopal, Bhupesh Baghel, Sachin Pilot, Randeep Surjewala and Syed Naseer Hussain, as well as senior leaders Ashok Gehlot, Tariq Anwar, Gaurav Gogoi, Mohammad Jawed and Akhilesh Prasad Singh, are also on the list. Interestingly, in the list of 40 star campaigners, there is no mention of Shashi Tharoor or Manish Tewari. The Bihar polls will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, and results will be announced on November 14.
