Bengaluru locals have now turned to 'pothole gods' amid the rising number of potholes in the city. The frustrated residents in East Bengaluru performed a puja on Saturday (September 27), using flowers, a diya, and a priest. The members of the Bharatinagar Residents Forum staged a unique protest in Cox Town on Saturday. The citizens' group prayed to god that the potholes do not claim any lives in the city, as there have been many cases of pothole-related deaths and injuries. This comes as the authorities have begun the pothole fixing work across the city after a rising number of complaints and BlackBuck's exit from Bengaluru Outer Ring Road (ORR). Around 20-25 members gathered on Webster Road and decorated the pothole for puja with rose petals. BJP 'rasta roko' protest The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held protests across Karnataka on Wednesday (September 24), targeting Siddaramaiah's Congress government. The demonstration named "rasta roko" (road blockade) protest has been held across Bengaluru and other cities. Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, who is leading the protest in Bengaluru's Banashankari, said that the roads across Karnataka have become "death traps" and are causing daily casualties and injuries. He said that the chief engineers will be held responsible if the work is not finished on time. The chief minister further said that the government has set aside ₹750 crore for road repairs. He shared that workers have already filled about 6,000 potholes, but 8,000 more still need fixing. He said that potholes are a national issue and not just limited to Karnataka, adding that the media should review and report how many potholes are on Delhi's roads, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence road.
