A British YouTuber was chuffed after flying to Portugal from Manchester Airport for just £17.99 – but the price of a small beer on his flight floored him. The content creator, affectionately known by fans as Just Deano, went overseas to spend a week filming in Albufeira. The seaside resort is hugely popular with Brits, who flock there for the cheap prices and hot weather. And starting his vlog , he said: “Terminal one I hear you say? Ryanair is in terminal three Deano. You’re a cheap skate! Well, this flight cost me £17.99… £17.99! And it is in terminal one because we are flying with easyJet.” After getting through security, Deano, whose flight was in the evening, opted for a pre-holiday beverage in Bar MCR. However, despite intending to sup a pint of Guinness, he was horrified to see the famous black drink being poured into regular non-branded glasses. That in mind, he opted for a pint of Mahou lager, and raising his eyes, he said: “Airport prices of course – £7.40 a pint…” Deano had downloaded episodes of Netflix show House of Guinness on his phone for the flight, and was pleasantly surprised when everything ran on time, after recent travel horrors. Taking his seat on the easyJet flight, he said the smoothness of his journey was “unusual for all the right reasons” and he even had an aisle all to himself. However, deciding to treat himself to another beer, he later said: “So, with everything going so well, I thought let’s treat myself to a couple of beers… “The only reason I got two and not one is because it is €7 (approx £6) for one can of Birra Moretti and it is €10.95 (approx £9.50) for two.” After trying his expensive beer in a plastic cup, he said: “Lukewarm. What a shame. The only thing going wrong today is the lukewarm beer. So far.” Arriving late at Faro Airport, he then spent €21 (approx £18) getting an Uber to his hotel, before calling it a night. And after posting the video, which you can watch in full here , some of his 33,300 subscribers were quick to comment about prices. One person said: “Deano spent more on beer than the air travel.” A second said: “Great video mate but I would not be paying 11euros for two small warm cans of lager.” Another went with: “Ridiculous the prices of beer on the plane I say I’m not going to every time but always do. Belter episode DEANO.” One person referred to the earlier Guinness glass debacle, commenting: “Guinness in a non-Guinness glass should actually be illegal and I am not joking!” Finally, another fan said: “Weird your taxi is more than your flight. Yet the plane costs far more in fuel to fly there.” In response to claims made in this story, a spokesperson for easyJet said: “A flight to Portugal and two beers for under £30 doesn’t sound like something to complain about.”
