This all-inclusive "foodie fest" brings together 19 of the area's favorite restaurants. NORTHBROOK, IL — For those looking for "an unforgettable night of delicious indulgence and spirited fun," the 30th annual Auction & Tase of the North Shore returns Oct. 27 at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel in Skokie. "Sips. Bites. Bids" will feature 19 of the area's favorite restaurants and rising stars. "Guests will have an amazing time sampling an incredible range of menu items. The best part is meeting restaurant owners and chefs," Kathi Quinn, Northbrook Chamber of Commerce president, tells Patch. "To mix it up this year, we have craft beer tasting, along with our exciting silent auction that features cool experiences – like a tour of WGN radio, Chicago Executive Airport and a burger named after you. Don’t miss it." The Northbrook Chamber is presenting Taste of the North Shore, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at 933 Skokie Blvd. Open to the public for ages 21 and up, the cost is $65/person by Thursday, $75 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at northbrookchamber.org or 847-498-5555. Now celebrating 30 years of flavor and community, organizers say the Taste of the North Shore serves up something for every palate — from beef tenderloin and tequila-lime shrimp ceviche to short rib tacos, BBQ pulled chicken sliders, and bacon candy that will have you coming back for seconds. For those with a sweet tooth, there is also plenty to love with brownies, toffee, cheesecake, creamy frozen custard and gourmet cookies. The event features a combination of longtime local favorites, with newer restaurants also involved. Arnie Krause, owner of Northbrook's The Claim Company, returns to the Taste with his restaurant's signature hamburger and barbecue chicken sliders. "The Claim Company has been part of the Auction & Taste for years, and we always look forward to it," Krause said. "It's an event that brings the community together - we get to see longtime customers and also introduce our restaurant to newcomers. Plus, we're glad to support the Chamber and all its programs on behalf of local businesses." Among the new entries to the Taste is Northbrook's North Shore Bistro, owned by Ewa and Scot Castellaneta. "We're very excited to be a first-time participant in the Taste & Auction this year," Scot Castellaneta said. "North Shore Bistro is all about bringing people together over great food, fine wine and signature cocktails. This event really captures that spirit. It's an honor to share some of our delicious recipes that we love with our neighbors."
