Former US president Barack Obama has come out swinging at Donald Trump, saying that every day feels like "Halloween" under him, except it's "all tricks and no treats". Speaking at a rally in Norfolk, Virginia, Obama said that though he had expected the situation to worsen under Trump, the reality was "far worse" than what even he had expected. "It's worse than even I expected. It's not as if we didn't see some of this coming… I will admit it's worse than even I expected. But I did warn y'all," he said. Obama was in Virginia to rally support for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spenberger. Speaking against Trump, Obama said, "Is the economy working better for you? Because it sure has gotten better for Trump and his family," referring to the US President's cryptocurrency ventures. "Since he's been in office, the whole crypto business and other ventures have made hundreds of millions of dollars," Obama continued. "Including from foreign nationals and rich folks investing because they want to stay in the President's good graces." Obama accused Trump of enriching himself and prioritising his "billionaire pals and finance bros" while ordinary Americans struggle. As per a Reuters report, the Trump family has a majority stake in crypto venture World Liberty Financial, which is believed to have generated millions of dollars. Obama also mocked Trump's White House renovations, saying, "He has been focused on critical issues like paving over the Rose Garden so folks don't get mud on their shoes, and gold plating the Oval Office and building a $300 million ballroom." Mocking Trump's "weird (AI) videos of a US president with a crown on his head flying a fighter jet and dumping poop on protesting citizens", Obama said, "They do it so you won't notice that while they're helping the wealthiest, most powerful people in the country consolidate more wealth and more power, your bills are still going up." Obama's remarks came even as Trump held a Great Gatsby-themed Halloween party at Mar-a-Lago. The party drew backlash as it was held while a major food assistance program neared expiration.
