Dancing With the Stars alum and former NFL star Antonio Brown has been arrested. The Super Bowl champion, 37, was extradited from the United Arab Emirates and is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon, according to TMZ Sports. Brown was taken into custody and brought to New York though he is expected to be sent to Florida where he will formally be charged in the case. The incident in question occurred at a boxing event in Miami where alleged victim Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu said that Brown “tried to shoot him with a handgun,” per TMZ Sports. Brown denies this, claiming that he acted in self-defense as people were trying to rob him. Shortly after his arrest, a message popped up on Brown’s X account. “Handed over the keys to the socials and CTESPN to my team while I go through this fight for my innocence,” Brown wrote. “Happy to showcase love & entertainment. All love & respect to everyone for the support.” Brown’s X post has gone viral with more than 2.3 million views in less than 24 hours. Dozens of X users have reacted to the post, showing support for Brown and saying that he’s innocent. “Praying for AB & hoping they can smuggle his memes out of jail. Free AB,” one person wrote. “You’ll be back on here very soon,” someone else said. “Sending good luck vibes, dude!!” a third comment read. “God speed brother. Christ is King. He is the only way. He will get you thru,” a fourth X user added. Brown was also ridiculed by some X users, though the vast majority of comments on his latest post read “Free AB.” The former wide receiver has been in trouble quite a bit over the past several years, though this is one of the most serious offenses he’s faced to date. Aside from playing in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown also competed on Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars alongside pro partner Sharna Burgess. The two finished in fourth place.
