A woman was allegedly harassed by a Rapido bike rider on Church Street in Bengaluru while returning to her PG on Thursday (November 6). The incident came to light after she shared her ordeal on social media, prompting responses from both the Bengaluru Police and Rapido. Taking to Instagram, the woman wrote that she had booked a bike through Rapido to travel from Church Street to her PG when the captain allegedly tried to grab her legs during the ride. “It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t even process it, let alone record it. When he did it again, I told him, ‘Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo,’ but he didn’t stop. I was terrified — I couldn’t ask him to stop the bike because I’m new to this place and didn’t know where I was. By the time we reached my destination, I was shivering and in tears,” she shared. She further added, “A kind man nearby noticed and asked what happened. When I told him, he confronted the captain. The captain apologized and said he wouldn’t do it again — but as he left, he pointed his finger at me in a way that made me feel even more unsafe.” Bengaluru Police And Rapido Respond After the post went viral, the Bengaluru Police and Rapido both issued responses. The city police commented on her post, asking, “Please mention the place of incident and your contact number via DM.” Rapido also issued a statement: “Hi, we are concerned to learn about the captain’s inappropriate conduct during your recent ride. Your safety and comfort remain our top priorities. Kindly allow us some time to investigate the matter in detail. You will be contacted shortly for further assistance, and suitable action will be taken against the captain involved.” “No Woman Should Have To Go Through This” The woman concluded her post by urging others to stay vigilant. “I’m sharing this because no woman should have to go through something like this — not in a cab, not on a bike, not anywhere. This is not the first time something similar has happened to me. But today I just couldn’t stay silent because of how unsafe I felt. Please stay alert, trust your instincts, and don’t stay silent.” The incident has since triggered widespread outrage online, with netizens calling for strict action against the captain.
