Veteran actor Satish Shah, famously known for Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, breathed his last on Saturday following kidney failure in Mumbai. He was 74 years old. Anupam Kher, who shared a warm friendship with his Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge co-star, is deeply shaken by the veteran actor’s demise. Fighting back tears, Anupam spoke about the heartbreaking loss, noting that in just a few days, the world has lost three remarkable personalities — actor Asrani, ad guru Piyush Pandey, and now Satish Shah. Anupam Kher remembers Satish Shah Currently in Switzerland, Anupam Kher revealed that he was visiting one of the iconic spots where Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was filmed. He said he had been in a joyful mood until a message on his phone brought the heartbreaking news of Satish Shah’s passing. In the emotional video, Anupam was heard saying, “What is happening? In three days, we lost three amazing people. I have known all of them. My smile hides a lot of sorrow.” Recalling their playful camaraderie, he added, “Every time I called him, I would be like, ‘Satish, mere Shah!’ And he would reply, ‘Mere Jahapana!’” “Main chashma pehen leta hoon, warna yeh aansu jo hai theek nahi lagenge. He had a great general knowledge. He would know about everything,” added Kher. Futher, Anupam said, “Aise thodi na hota hai? Aise nahi jana hota hai. Aapko koi haq nahi hai, aise achanak jaana. Koi haq nahi hai. Madhu (Shah), I feel really bad. A big hug to you. Shabd hi nahi hai Satish Shah ke loss ke liye. Road, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, at 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 26. Satish Shah is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit had confirmed the news of his death on Instagram. In his video, Ashoke Pandit revealed that Satish Shah passed away due to kidney failure. His health suddenly deteriorated at home and he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital. He passed away at the hospital. Pandit called it a huge loss to the film and television industry. Sharing the news of Satish Shah’s demise, Ashoke Pandit wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure . He was rushed to Hinduja hospital where he breathed his last . A great loss to our industry . Om Shanti .” As per a report in India Today, Satish Shah had been battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant. His manager told the news portal that the body remains at the hospital, and the funeral will take place on Sunday. With a career spanning over four decades, Satish Shah carved a special place in Indian cinema and television through his unforgettable performances. A graduate of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, he later honed his craft at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. Shah made his acting debut with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan (1978) and went on to appear in more than 250 films over the years. He rose to cult fame with his hilarious portrayal of Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in Kundan Shah’s 1983 classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. His impressive filmography includes popular titles such as Shakti, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, and Om Shanti Om, among many others. On television, Shah’s role as the witty and lovable Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai remains one of the most iconic comic acts in Indian TV history.
