$50K Winner Valter Walker Confesses He Couldn’t Afford to Cancel UFC 321 Fight

Johnny Walker’s younger half-brother, Valter Walker, extended his winning streak to four fights at UFC 321 after yet another first-round submission. The 27-year-old tapped out Louie Sutherland via a heel hook. This fight was one of the saving graces of an otherwise dull night, and we almost lost out on this one, too! Valter Walker recently revealed that he never expected the fight at UFC 321 to end the way it did. While talking about the issue he was facing a few days before the fight, the Brazilian native also expressed that he was in disbelief after earning the $50,000 for his finish. “[I] didn’t expect the bonus. I even said, if you believe in God, I was proof of a miracle, brother,” Walker told Ag Fight. But what was the issue he was facing? This had him contemplating his decision to fight at UFC 321. “I [had] my back locked up, man,” Walker further stated to Ag Fight. “Two days before the fight, I prayed to God, and I was thinking about canceling the fight. I went to sleep, [but] I couldn’t sleep,” Valter Walker continued. “I was breathing deeply, and it hurt a lot. And I was thinking about canceling the fight, and I prayed to God and said, ‘Dude, according to the Bible, in the past, there were a lot of miracles that happened. And nowadays, they don’t happen anymore.'” ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad But then, before Valter Walker could make his decision to step away from UFC 321, he thought about the people he cared about, his family and his friends. Although he was satisfied with the way his life was going, finance was a big issue. That was the reason he decided to go ahead and fight, which was a great decision because he made quite an impact last weekend. “I prayed to God and said, ‘Man, I don’t even need money. The things I already have, I’m already happy.’ [But] I need money for my family, for friends, to fulfill the things I promised to the people around me,” Valter Walker added. “And I was running out of money, you know? My money was running out. I took responsibility for the people around me.” Read Top Stories First From EssentiallySports Click here and check box next to EssentiallySports Valter Walker also revealed that a miracle did happen because when he woke up the next day after he was facing breathing difficulties, things went back to normal, and he was feeling like nothing had happened. However, after the fight against Sutherland, reports revealed that Walker had suffered an injury. A calf kick from Louie Sutherland broke his fibula, and he took to Instagram to share an X-ray of his broken bone. The momentum train that Valter Walker is on will be stopping for at least five to six weeks, as per the heavyweight fighter. This pretty much confirms he will not be competing again this year. “I was going to keep a secret, guys, if you watched the live today, I was in a bad mood as my leg is in too much pain, but they asked me to reveal it, so there it is 5-6 weeks of heavy recovery the first week and the hardest, but telling you it’s worth it. A life worth living,” Walker wrote on social media. Johnny Walkera mess after yet another fighter got released
