Hundreds of participants turned out early on Sunday morning for One Communications’ 8th annual Pinktober Walk Run, an event that continues to champion cancer awareness and education across Guyana. This year’s walk, which started and ended at the Scouts Association ground, saw a group calling themselves the ‘Bird Association’ step forward with a $2 million donation to support the company’s ongoing efforts in the fight against cancer. The cheque, one of the largest single contributions to the initiative since its inception, was handed over to One Communications representatives after the walk. According to Communications Manager Jasmine Harris, One Communications has been hosting the Pinktober Walk Run since 2017 as part of its corporate social responsibility drive to raise awareness and promote early detection. She noted that the company skipped 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has remained committed to the cause every year since.
