Throughout his career, Tiger Woods has continued to inspire upcoming golfers through his impeccable dominance and impressive golfing skills. However, what really set the legendary golfer apart from all of his peers was not the accolades he earned, but his iron mentality.Widely considered as one of the greatest golfers of all time, Woods has often received heaps of praise from his golfing friends. Jordan Spieth, one of Woods' fellow PGA Tour pros, has often admired the 15-time major champion. In one of his interview sessions, Jordan Spieth revealed an integral part of Tiger Woods' strong mentality. In 2021, Spieth sat down for a discussion on the No Laying Up podcast and made it clear that he had yet to come across any professional golfer like Woods. In his statement, Spieth revealed that he has played with Tiger Woods many times (as quoted by Business Insider):"I've played with Tiger a lot. I played with him quite a few times when he was really, really struggling in the 2015-16 frame."Referring to the days when Woods struggled with form, Spieth also talked about how he was not playing well. According to the three-time major champ, the 82-time PGA Tour winner dropped F-bombs but never commented negatively on himself."He was trying to come back, really struggling chipping, just wasn't playing very well. And out of every single round I played with him, I never heard him say one negative thing. He was mad. He would drop an F-bomb. But it was never a negative comment about himself."For Tiger Woods, 2015-16 was all about healing from surgeries, long breaks and disappointments. Following his 2014 microdiscectomy, Woods started training under Chris Como, but his inconsistent swing took a toll. He missed cuts at the 2015 US Open and British Open and ranked last in the Hero World Challenge. Woods spent most of 2016 healing from the back surgeries he had in the latter part of 2015."That's unfair" - When Jordan Spieth reacted strongly after being compared with Tiger WoodsBack in 2017, Spieth earned his 10th PGA Tour victory by winning the Travelers Championship, edging out Daniel Berger in the playoff. Following that win, Spieth was being compared to the 15-time major champ by a section of the media. However, the 2015 FedEx Cup Champ rejected all the comparisons with Tiger Woods. While talking to the press, Spieth called it "unfair" and stated that nobody will do what Tiger Woods did to the game. He said (quoted by The Golfing Gazette):"I’m hesitant and will speak out adamantly... I think that’s unfair. I don’t think anybody will do what Tiger did for the game... it’s really cool to be out here at my age, to experience what we’re able to experience, play golf for a living."Spieth has also admitted taking advice from the legendary golfer, especially over a key putt that got him Jordan his first Green Jacket. After winning the 2015 Masters Championship, Spieth credited Woods for offering him valuable advice regarding the crucial shot.
