Am I being dumb?: Sophie Cunningham questions Travis Kelce’s $200,000,000 Six Flags rescue plan

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Travis Kelce was teaming up with Jana Partners to help revive embattled theme park operator Six Flags. Per reports, the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end and his business partners are planning to buy a 9 %stake in Six Flags for $200 million. On Thursday, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham expressed her shock at Six Flags closing down after 50 years of operation."Six Flags is closing," Cunningham said on her "Show Me Something" podcast (Timestamp: 17:08). When one of Cunningham's co-hosts informed her about the financial aspects of Kelce's involvement, the Indiana Fever guard raised her concerns about the move."What do you mean? That doesn’t make any sense. … He's going to have to buy more than 9% if they're all closing, or am I being dumb? … I don’t get it, but he knows something we don’t." Cunningham said.Six Flags had been struggling for the past several years, especially since traffic to its theme parks never returned to pre-pandemic levels. It led to the company cutting costs, which further led to poorer maintenance at its parks.Kelce, however, is attempting to resuscitate the theme part. The Chiefs TE grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, about 70 miles from Cedar Point, which is operated by Six Flags.Travis Kelce and the Chiefs will square off against the Denver Broncos in Week 11 of the 2025 NFL seasonKansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce - Source: ImagnTravis Kelce and the Chiefs (5-4) will face the Denver Broncos (8-2) in Week 11 of the 2025 NFL season on Nov. 16.
