India beat South Africa in the final of the 2025 ICC Women's ODI World Cup on Sunday, November 2, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. As a result, the Indian Women's team lifted the World Cup trophy for the first time after losing in the finals in 2005 and 2017.The Women in Blue batted first after losing the toss and managed to score 298 for seven in 50 overs on the back of brilliant batting performances from Shafali Verma (87), Deepti Sharma (58), Smriti Mandhana (45), and others. Ayabonga Khaka picked up three wickets for South Africa with the ball.Laura Wolvaardt (101) then hit a magnificent century and kept her side in the hunt during the steep chase. However, the rest of her teammates failed to step up on the big day, which dented their chances in the second innings.
