NEW YORK: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the UN Security Council on Tuesday that China could pressure Russia to end the war, echoing a US call for Beijing to curb its purchases of Moscow’s oil.Although not a party to the conflict, Kyiv has long accused Beijing of supplying dual-use goods to Russia and sustaining the Kremlin through energy imports.”China is also represented here, a powerful nation on which Russia now depends completely,” Zelensky told the council, where China holds a permanent seat. “If China truly wanted this war to stop, it could compel Moscow to end the invasion. Without China, Putin’s Russia is nothing. Yet too often China stays silent and distant instead of active for peace.”Beijing has repeatedly denied supplying Russia with military-use materials, casting itself instead as an impartial mediator.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
