Efficiently leading Akwa Ibom State with a heavy heart in the past year, owing to the loss of his wife, has been described as a rare trait with which only a few are endowed.
This was the message of condolences given to Governor Umo Eno by the College of Commissioners and Special Advisers in his cabinet during the one-year memorial service in honour of the late Patience Umo Eno, who died one year ago.
The college’s condolence statement, signed by their Dean, Mr Frank Archibong, and made available to Daily Sun, said: “Your Excellency, in the face of this immense personal tragedy, we have watched you demonstrate remarkable fortitude, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the service of our state.
“Leading with a heavy heart is a burden few can bear, yet you have continued to steer the ship of state with clarity, purpose, and dedication. Your strength, anchored in your deep faith, has been an inspiration to us all.
“While the absence of your dear wife, your confidante and partner, by your side is a void that cannot be filled, we pray that God continues to be your comfort and strength.”
They assured the governor of their steadfast loyalty, support, and prayers as he continues to navigate the governance journey, even as they also reiterated their commitment to standing with him and supporting his vision for a prosperous Akwa Ibom State.
“As we reflect on the life of a virtuous woman, may the beautiful memories you shared bring you solace, and may the knowledge that her legacy continues to blossom bring you peace,” they said.
The Commissioners described the departed Mrs Patience Eno as not just a wife and mother but a pillar of strength and a vessel of God’s grace whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives across the state.
“Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
“We particularly wish to celebrate her enduring legacy, the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA). It is crucial to acknowledge that GIFA was established with a clear and compassionate mandate: to empower the vulnerable, uplift women and youth, and provide critical support in health and education.
“The significant gains being recorded today, through scholarships, skills acquisition programmes, and healthcare initiatives, are a direct result of the thoughtful roadmap and solid foundation she meticulously set. Her vision was not merely a concept but an actionable plan for community transformation,” the statement said.
