Young mother among those missing after UPS plane crash

A young mother is among those missing after a UPS cargo plane crashed in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, according to her employer. Megan Washburn, 35, a scrap metal buyer and customer experience agent of Grade A Auto Parts and Scrap Metal Recycling, is missing, the company's owner, Sean Garber, told NBC News. Garber's business was one of two properties partially destroyed in the crash. Washburn, a mother of two, was working on the day of the crash and has not been heard from since, he said. Garber also confirmed that another one of his employees, John Locke, is missing. Their families have submitted samples of her DNA to investigators to see if any of the recovered bodies are a match, Garber added. "They're upset and they're distraught, and they're worried, and they're concerned," Garber said, referring to the families. "They're angry — every emotion you can imagine is what they're going through." Garber said that four of company’s 18 buildings were destroyed by the blast. He estimated that at least 20 people were in the buildings at the time of the explosion. “People had to jump out windows of some of the offices because the heat had melted and blocked the doors,” Garber said. Officials have said that at least 13 people were killed, including three crew members on board, in the crash, and that nine remain missing. The names of the all of the deceased have not been released yet. On Thursday, UPS identified the three crew members who were on the plane: Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Captain Dana Diamond. Gov. Andy Beshear also said earlier this week that a young child is believed to be among the dead. Diamond's wife declined to comment. Efforts to reach family members of Truitt and Wartenberg were unsuccessful. A spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board, who is leading the investigation of the crash, said in a statement that “NTSB does not release the names of individuals in accidents we investigate” and referred NBC News to local officials. Spokespeople for Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and the Louisville Police Department referred NBC News to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office did not immediately return a request for confirmation. Garber said he had a company gathering last night with his employees and their family members. "It's my job as the person that they've depended on to provide them an opportunity to make a living, and as a human being, to guide our way through this," he said.
