Basic school students in Nkroful designed a semi-automatic sweeping machine using local materials under the guidance of their teachersThe innovative prototype combined brooms with a motorised mechanism, reducing manual effort for faster, efficient cleaning of large spacesTheir machine, demonstrated in a trending video, impressed many Ghanaians who praised the children’s ingenuity and technical creativity
A group of basic school students from Rock of Ages Academy in Nkroful have successfully designed a semi-automatic sweeping machine from local materials.
In a video shared online, some of the basic school students displayed their high level of ingenuity and technical prowess with their demonstration of the sophisticated machine.
The semi-automatic sweeping machine is said to be a prototype built with basic materials and features an innovative design.
As explained by the students, the machine is aimed at reducing the manual effort required for cleaning large areas while doing it faster and more efficiently.
The machine features a combination of brooms and a motorised mechanism. According to a report, the machine was developed by the young learners using local resources under the guidance of their teachers.
The students’ efforts were also captured in a video, showing the machine in action as it swept debris into its collection area.

ATU student creates solar-powered refrigerator
In a similar report, an Accra Technical University (ATU) student developed a solar-powered mobile fridge to help vendors preserve yoghurt and ice cream outdoors.
He used a Peltier device and battery-solar combo to keep items cold without using traditional refrigeration components.
He appealed to the government and investors to support technical education and scale his solar fridge prototype.
“This is a mobile refrigeration system, right? We took inspiration from our yoghurt vendors. You see those people, it’s only the cart that their stuff is inside. So when they go out there and the sun shines, it melts it. They don’t have any means to keep the energy.”
“We thought, why don’t we bring an innovative idea that will help them in their business? So we decided to use the solar.”

“There’s a similar one in Dubai that we usually used to sweep around the compound of the Expo 2020 event. These kids will really make Ghana proud someday. Please, let’s retweet.”
Ghanaian builds innovative treadmill from recycled waste
Earlier, YEN.com.gh had reported that a young, talented Ghanaian inventor trended after building a treadmill from recycled waste materials.
The manually operated treadmill machine allows users to run or walk in place without needing electricity.
Social media users who saw the video have called on the government and private individuals to support the young man.
