Yobe: Police disburse N42m benefits to families of fallen officers

The Yobe State Police Command has disbursed a total sum of ₦42,137,238.66 to 35 families of deceased police personnel who lost their lives while in active service in the Command. The payment is part of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Insurance Initiative introduced by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to enhance the welfare of both serving officers and families of fallen heroes of the Nigeria Police Force. Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Damaturu over the weekend, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his continuous commitment to the welfare of officers and men of the Force. He described the gesture as “a remarkable demonstration of compassion and leadership that will not only provide relief to the bereaved families but also serve as a morale booster to serving personnel.” The CP prayed for the eternal repose of the departed officers and urged their families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. He further advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds, particularly in supporting their children’s education and general well-being, while cautioning them against falling victim to deceitful individuals who may seek to exploit them. In response, some of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, describing the gesture as a demonstration of genuine care and benevolence. They also prayed for continued success and divine protection for the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, as contained in a statement by SP Dungus Abdulkarim, MNIPR, Police Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command.
