The North East Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mahama Abdul-Ganiu, paid a working visit to the Ghana National Fire Service Municipal Command in Gambaga on Wednesday, (22 October 2025). The visit aimed to assess the impact of fire assistants in promoting fire safety within the municipality. During the visit, Abdul-Ganiu urged the Fire Assistants to remain proactive and diligent in their duties, reminding them that their roles were valuable and coveted by others. The YEA director addressing the personnel said, “you have to be diligent in your work as requested by superiors and supervisors as it will be the major consideration to get you into the mainstream Fire Service recruitment” Acting Municipal Fire Commander, ADO1 Abdul Raheem Ibrahim, commended the Fire Assistants’ significant contributions to fire-safety education in the area. Abdul Raheem also commended the YEA Director for deploying Fire Assistants to support the fire service in combating fire outbreaks in the area as the harmattan is approaching “Your (YEA) personnel deployment could not have been more timely as we need more hands to enhance our public education outreach this harmattan,” he said. The command leverages the Fire Assistants for public education and provides in-service training to enhance their skills.
