Yamaha made headlines at EICMA 2025 in Milan with two major unveils- ‘YE-01 Electric Motocross Concept’ and ‘2026 Yamaha R7’. These two motorcycles represent Yamaha’s future. The Yamaha YE-01 Electric Motocross Concept is not just another prototype, but it is Yamaha’s bold step into electric motocross racing, a completely new field for the company. Developed in partnership with Electric Motion SAS, a French electric motorcycle brand, the YE-01 is built for the upcoming MXEP electric motocross series set to begin in 2026. What makes this exciting is that Yamaha isn’t new to electric racing, as the company has already gained experience with its TY-E electric trials bike, which competed in the FIM Trial World Championship and it also supplies electric powertrain components to the Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E Team. With this background, the YE-01 is expected to deliver top-notch performance, thermal control and rider-friendly handling. It is lightweight, powerful and designed to prove that electric bikes can be as thrilling off-road as traditional dirt bikes. The 2026 Yamaha R7 is a familiar name that is getting a major upgrade. Yamaha’s R7 is already known as a sporty middleweight machine that combines performance with practicality but the 2026 version pushes it further. The new model gets a revised chassis for better handling, updated electronics and a 5-inch TFT display that gives riders all the data they need in a modern interface. Borrowing technology from the bigger YZF-R1, the R7 now includes a 6-axis IMU system that powers advanced rider aids like traction control, slide control, wheelie control and launch control. Riders can choose from multiple modes Sport, Street, Rain and even customizable track modes, depending on their mood or skill level. It is equipped with the reliable 698cc twin-cylinder engine which produces 73.4 bhp and 68 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and Assist and Slipper clutch for smoother gear changes. Yamaha’s display at EICMA 2025 shows two sides of its soul - innovation and evolution. The YE-01 represents a bold step into the electric future, while the R7 continues Yamaha’s performance legacy in the petrol world. Together, they show that Yamaha isn’t just keeping up with the times, but it is leading the way. For more two wheeler, three wheeler and auto industry updates, stay tuned to Times Now Auto.
