A recent episode of WWE “Monday Night Raw” featured many memorable moments, as John Cena made his final appearance in his hometown of Boston. The colossal event featured Cena making history, several first-round tournament matches, and the announcement of a big match for Survivor Series: WarGames. During the night, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk arrived at the ring to speak about getting knocked out by Logan Paul on last week’s Raw. After Punk called out Paul, he arrived at the top of the ramp to inform everyone he’d seen a new “Vision.” With that, Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed, and Bron Breakker joined Paul and marched to the ring, looking to cause further damage to Punk. Soon after, Jey Uso showed up and got in the ring as back-up for Punk. They were still outnumbered three men against two, until Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes’ music hit and he rushed to the ring to help fight off the heels. (Photo by WWE/Getty Images) The brawl spilled outside of the ring, with Punk tossing Paul into a barricade. Cody grabbed a steel chair, which he rammed into Breakker’s gut. Back in the ring, Punk, Cody, and Jey all unleashed moves on Reed and clotheslined him over the top rope. Backstage later, Raw general manager Adam Pearce spoke about what just occurred with Punk, Jey, and Cody against The Vision. It’ll be Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Jey Uso against Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, and Bron Breakker in a WarGames match. The match has previously featured four or more superstars on each team, so while it appears to be a condensed version, WWE will add two more individuals to each team. The late Dusty Rhodes created the first WarGames match in 1987, which appeared at various NWA and WCW events. WWE began using the match in 2017. In a WarGames match, there are two rings side by side inside a large steel cage. Members of each team are inside two locked cages at the top of the ramp. One man from each team starts the match, and a new competitor joins the match at intervals. It could mean a two-on-one, three-on-one, or other outnumbered situation for a team, until someone else from their team joins the intense match. A team wins by pinfall or submission in the match. They’ve held a men’s and women’s WarGames match at the past several Survivor Series events, so it’s like there will be a women’s match on the card soon, possibly involving tag teams. As of this writing, the men’s match is the only one scheduled for WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 29, in San Diego, California.
