The 34-year-old was taking part in a tag team match on Monday Night RAW, which screened on Tuesday AEDT, alongside partner Charlotte Flair. The pair were defending their Women’s Tag Team Championship title against Lyra Valkyria and Bayley in the night’s main event, The Sun reports. Everything appeared to be going smoothly, until Valkyria picked up Bliss for her signature move, “The Night Wing”. The explosive move involves a powerful driver onto the floor, and can be followed up with a pin, or by taking the move to the top rope for a splash. However, it became quickly apparent to viewers that something went wrong between the two stages of the move. You can watch the incident in the video player above. Rather than springing up following the driver, Valkyria remained sat over Bliss and attempted a pin after realising that she was connected to her opponent’s top by a tangled knot of hair. The pair desperately tried to untangle each other, but their efforts were not helped by Charlotte Flair, who came to deliver a kick to Valkyria in the middle of their struggle in an attempt to break up the pin. Broadcast producers quickly cut away from the tangled duo as Bliss was seen removing her top layer of clothing. The cameras cut to focus on Flair as Valkyria and Bliss were seen talking in a panic as they tried to solve the problem without breaking character. Bliss’s quick-thinking saved the match from descending into farce as Valkyria was seen rolling away towards the edge of the ring with her opponent’s top still hanging from her hair immediately after being freed. Viewers were caught by surprise at the incident, not just due to the dramatic malfunction, but also the speed at which the athletes were able to navigate the situation. One fan said: “I’m surprised all that long hair flying around (for the men and the women) doesn’t cause more problems than it does.” Another gushed: “Quick thinking by Alexa. Love seeing moments like this & seeing how they’re able to fix it on the spot & not miss a beat.” A third fan pointed out a pattern of similar issues for Valkyria, joking: “Another Lyra match, another wardrobe malfunction. It’s becoming a ‘thing’…” Thankfully for Bliss, she had another layer on underneath, and the bout continued. Clearly the wardrobe change did not affect her ability to compete, as she and her teammate took the fight to their opponents. The duo hit their signature moves together to set up Flair for the cover as they defended their title. It was the partnership’s fifth defense since securing the belt against Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez at Summer Slam. — This story originally appeared on The Sun and has been republished with permission
