‘WWE Ring Like Scene:’ Pune Men Fight Over The Conjuring: Last Rites Spoilers Inside Theatre, Police Step In

What was supposed to be fun, family time, watching a horror film in the theatre, spiralled into an intense brawl in Pune, Maharashtra. While moviegoers expected chills, thrills, and maybe a few jump scares from the film, none were ready to witness the real horror that unfolded inside the hall. It all began with two couples deciding to watch the recently released The Conjuring: Last Rites, the ninth and final instalment of the horror film series, at the Elpro Mall in Pimpri Chinchwad.
According to a report by PTI, a 29-year-old software professional, identified as Abhishek Despande, took his wife to see the film with much excitement on Tuesday, September 9. However, their experience was disrupted when a fellow moviegoer, identified as Aaquib Javed Nisar Patel, seated just behind them, began loudly narrating the movie to his wife. Unable to enjoy the horror film due to the spoilers given by the man seated behind, Despande confronted him and asked him to be quiet.
The Two Men Began Fighting With Their Wives, Getting Involved As Well
Generally, people tend to lower their voices upon such intervention, but Patel did not back down. Instead, he took offence and the two men ended up getting into a heated argument that soon turned into a physical fight inside the theatre. During the scuffle, Despande lost his balance, fell and reportedly fractured his arm. He also claimed that Patel kicked him in the hand and stomach. Moreover, when his wife tried to intervene, Patel’s wife joined the altercation and assaulted her as well.
The Two Men Filed Complaints Against Each Other With The Police
Following the fight, Despande filed a case at Chinchwad police station against Patel, who suffered minor injuries, and his wife. The couple was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). Despande, meanwhile, was booked under a non-cognisable (NC) offence.
