WWE Hall of Famer Apologizes to Fans for Heated NXT Moment

A moment of potentially unscripted frustration during a recent NXT event prompted fans to call out a WWE Hall of Famer for his actions. It occurred at the recent NXT Halloween Havoc, which featured multiple championship matches and saw several women’s championships change hands. Blake Monroe captured her first-ever championship since signing with WWE, becoming the new NXT Women’s North American Champion. Later, Tatum Paxley followed that up by capturing the NXT Women’s Championship from Jacy Jayne, marking Paxley’s first reign with the significant title. A main event bout featured Ricky Saints defending his NXT Championship against former champ, Trick Williams. Saints won to keep the belt secured around his waist, which may have upset some fans. It clearly upset Booker T, who works with NXT on commentary. The two-time inductee into WWE’s Hall of Fame threw his headset down after witnessing the outcome. At first, he joked that he had “two double espressos” before the event, and his partner on NXT commentary, Vic Joseph, advised him to keep going with his energetic performance. “I want to apologize to the NXT Universe,” he said on the podcast, adding, “You know, I want to apologize for throwing my headset at the end of the Ricky Saints and Trick Williams match.” “I was a little upset, you know? I was backing my boy Trick Williams, but Ricky Saints showed up and he went out there and did his job,” Booker said. In a reference to the movie “300,” Booker also joked that Saints had the “Xerxes feel” going with his outfit during the NXT event. On social media, some fans called out Booker’s commentary during the event. Based on the remarks, some loved it, while others found it intolerable. “#HalloweenHavoc was borderline unwatchable because of @BookerT5x . He’s terrible on commentary,” one X commenter said. “BookerT is heated after Trick lost #Halloweenhavoc,” another fan commented. “Booker T threw his headset off and it’s the best commentary has been all night #HalloweenHavoc,” one fan wrote on X. Booker admitted he was “upset a little bit, but indicated he wanted to apologize to everybody since the story “actually got picked up in the news” from NXT Halloween Havoc. The WWE Hall of Famer also admitted “we all got our favorites,” referring to him supporting Trick Williams during the intense championship match.
