    WWE Accidentally Spoils Major Storyline

    At NXT No Mercy, Jacy Jayne retained the NXT Women’s Championship against Lola Vice. The finish came after a masked individual attacked Vice.

    Although the attacker’s identity was a major storyline, WWE.com appeared to spoil the reveal. The website posted an article identifying the person.

    Laney Reid Identified as Attacker

    In an initial match report on WWE.com, the company revealed the mystery person. The sentence read, “Jacy Jayne retained the NXT Women’s Championship thanks to a shocking assist from Lainey Reid.”

    This text was quickly edited to read, “Jacy Jayne is still the NXT Women’s Champion, but not without some controversy.” However, the original text was seen by fans before the change was made.

    Reid has been featured on NXT television in recent weeks trying to align with Jayne and Fallon Henley. With Jazmyn Nyx no longer part of their group Fatal Influence, Reid seems to be positioning herself as a replacement.

    This storyline was complicated by a supposed injury to Reid. She was pulled from a scheduled WWE Speed Women’s Title match against Sol Ruca at No Mercy and was seen in a walking boot during the event.

    Following the controversial conclusion to the title match at No Mercy, the next steps for the championship are unclear. No rematch or new challenger has been announced for Jayne for the upcoming NXT Halloween Havoc event, with the fallout from the spoiled reveal expected to be addressed on this week’s episode of NXT. WWE has announced the following matches for the show this Tuesday night on the CW Network:
