Wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels appeared on Nightcap with former NFL stars Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson recently.
During the appearance, Michaels was asked about a number of topics, including how he is doing physically after wrestling professionally for nearly 26 years.
Shawn Michaels revealed that he will be undergoing surgery on his knees soon after wrestling took a toll on his body.
“I have had my back fused. I’ve had my shoulder replaced. I’ve got two knees that I’m getting replaced in probably a month,” Shawn Michaels said. “And I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. I knew that going in, as you guys did. I knew the price that was going to come along with it.”
As Michaels said, the surgeries he has undergone thus far and the ones that he will undergo in the future were worth it to him.
The 60-year-old is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and fellow wrestling legend Ric Flair considers him to be the best.
Michaels was asked what it means to him to have Flair call him the greatest ever.
“It’s the greatest compliment a guy could have, to even be in the conversation,” he said. “I went through my ups and downs, trials and tribulations, but when I was in there, I was the most romantic guy there was about this job.
“If there was anything that might have been able to set me apart from everybody, it’s that I fully grasped and engaged with that love and that passion and that romance.”
Finally, Shawn Michaels was asked if he would ever consider getting in the ring again.
The current Senior Vice President of Talent Development for the WWE last wrestled in 2018. He made his future plans clear.
“Not a chance,” he said. “I’m so fortunate and so blessed to do what I’ve done. But I am so overjoyed to be doing what I’m doing now. And to be helping the future of the WWE and to be a part of that.
“To help these young men and women to achieve their passions and their dreams is something that I had no idea I’d enjoy it this much. But it is so great, because I think the business is just in tremendous hands for the future.”
