The story follows Kim Woo-joo (Choi Woo-sik).He is the lone heir of Myungsoondang, a long-running bakery that’s been in business for eight decades. During work, he crosses paths with Yoo Me-ri (Jung So-min), a subcontracted designer. Me-ri’s engagement has recently collapsed due to her ex cheating. Moreover, she also got trapped in a rental scam. Just when things look bleak, she wins a premium townhouse reserved for couples starting married life. The catch is that she is no longer engaged. So, she suddenly asks Woo-joo (who share her ex-fiancé’s name) to enter a 90-day fake marriage arrangement. Hang-gu secretly flying to the US and calling it a work trip signals his relationship issue moving to the forefront. His son, Eung-soo, questioning him acts as a narrative cue. At Myunsoondang, Pil-nyeon orders her aide to dig into the secret finance files Mr. Ko uncovered. Meanwhile, Han-gu brings in a fake rep from a supposed U.S. partner firm. Pil-nyeon believes their overseas expansion is running smoothly. She does not know that the project doesn’t exist, and Han-gu has been draining the funds. Woo-joo picks Me-ri up in his new car, bringing her flowers. At her place, he shows old journals, but she spots the name “Miso.” Woo-joo admits Miso was someone meaningful from his past. She tries to snatch the notebook, slips, and they nearly kiss. Rain forces him to stay overnight.Elsewhere, Jin-gyeong and Sang-hyun end up dining alone. There, she drinks heavily, asks why her crush (Woo-joo) never liked her. She cries and passes out in his car, then sleeps on his sofa. Jin-gyeong wakes later, remembers every embarrassing moment. Panicking, she leaves. Outside, she bumps into Woo-joo and Me-ri. Woo-joo mentions he’s helping Me-ri secure her home. But Jin-gyeong warns him about legal and social consequences. Back at the office, Han-gu blocks the secretary’s investigation, showing he has multiple accomplices. Later, Jin-gyeong meets Me-ri. There, Me-ri learns the truth from Jin-gyeong that Woo-joo is Pil-nyeon’s grandson and feels obligated because of the past. Sad, she heads to her mother’s village. Jin-gyeong confesses her mistake to Woo-joo, who then finds Me-ri walking with her dog in the village. He declares his emotions plainly, saying his support is love, not guilt, and seals it with a kiss. Episode 8 of Would You Marry Me opens with Woo-joo and Me-ri hanging out at a countryside farm. It is the same place she used to escape to when she longed for her dad. They share soft moments and eventually kiss. Cut to Jin-gyeong, shattered after Woo-joo admitted he’s into Me-ri. Later that night, she sits alone crying until Sang-hyun jogs past. She tags along, tries to act normal, and then crumbles again, thinking about her unreturned feelings.Night falls at Me-ri’s house. Woo-joo sneaks her into his room, tells her to ditch a bug, and pulls her into a hug right before her mom walks in. Morning arrives, and the trio has breakfast. Me-ri’s mom feels guilty, believing she pushed her daughter into a failed marriage by insisting she file the wedding papers. Woo-joo calmly says her divorce doesn’t bother him. Mom casually reveals she already knows they were cuddling the night before.The three then visit Me-ri’s late father’s columbarium. Meanwhile, Hang-gu flies to the U.S., lying to his wife about a work trip while actually planning to meet his mistress. Eung-soo senses something sketchy. Elsewhere, the chairwoman hosts a lunch for the marketing team.Me-ri quietly feels stung when Jin-gyeong arrives and gets treated like an unofficial granddaughter. Jin-gyeong, keeping it together, tells the chairwoman she only sees Woo-joo as a sibling, pushing her real emotions down.
