'World's hottest scientist' forced to kill 'thousands' of animals in garden invasion

A scientist has admitted she has had to kill “thousands” of different animals after her garden was subjected to a huge invasion. It comes after she was dubbed the “world’s hottest scientist” by her social media followers. Rosie Moore has racked up an impressive following as she gives the latest details on all things about the environment. She has also managed to star in a host of other projects, including stints on docs on Netflix and Discovery . In a recent update, ecologist Rosie had revealed to her followers that she had secured a pool for her house, only adding to fan’s excitement for new and interesting content . However, in another post to her Instagram account, Rosie admitted there was a lot more hidden within the pool than she ever realised. Revealing all in a reel, Rosie admitted that she had to drain her pool because of other issues, but after a slew of rain, some dangerous creatures decided to creep out of the woodwork. “Next thing I knew, it filled with rainwater, which then filled with thousands and thousands of tadpoles,” she explained. Rosie revealed that she initially had no idea of what kind of animal the tadpoles were going to turn into, but had suspicions it could be the Cuban tree frog — an invasive species that can cause immense damage to the local environment if left unchecked. However, she opted to give the tadpoles the benefit of the doubt and let them hatch; only to find they were indeed the unwelcome amphibians. Sharing video of their gradual hatching, Rosie abruptly ended the video by admitting: “It was kind of a cool stage to see them in. So yeah, anyways, I had to kill them all.” Writing in the caption of the video, scientist Rosie sobbed: “I was really hoping some wouldn’t be Cuban tree frogs. As sad as it is, invasive species are very hard to manage and a large population like this would decimate our local frog populations.” Several of Rosie’s fans were left in shock as they watched the multitude of tadpoles slowly grow into the invasive species. Many soon took to the comments section to offer their support, as well as asking questions on how best to cull potentially dangerous animals. One concerned commenter beamed with happiness as they penned: “Thank you for doing the right thing for our ecosystems and culling them. It’s so hard and so worth it for every other life they would inadvertently end because of how they are! I appreciate ya; I do lots of invasive species removal here in Arizona.” A second asked: “Why don’t you ask if some reptile or snake exhibit at a zoo could feed them to their animals? Might not be such a bad idea considering you’re removing them anyway.” However, one user was less than impressed with Rosie’s actions, fuming: “I don’t care how invasive, I can’t; they’re so cute and innocent. Like isn’t there another way. Send them back to Cuba, lol!” For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletters .
