World Athletics Championships 2025, Neeraj Chopra Javelin Throw Final Live Updates: History And Revenge On Chopra's Mind

Neeraj Chopra at World Athletics Championships 2025 Men’s Javelin Throw Final Live Updates:

Indian javelin throw star Neeraj Chopra seeks to defend his World Championships title in Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday in the event final, which features a competitive field.

The final will be highlighted by the intense competition between Chopra and Pakistani star Arshad Nadeem, who claimed the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, surpassing Chopra. The two athletes have not competed against each other since, due to the tension between their nations following an unprovoked attack on India.

Chopra aims to make history by becoming the third athlete to successfully defend his title, following Czech coach Jan Zelenzy and Anderson Peters of Grenada.

Chopra advanced to the event final with a single successful attempt in the qualification round the previous day, surpassing the automatic qualification mark of 84.50m on his first try. His effort on Wednesday measured 84.80m, securing his place in the final. Compatriot Sachin Yadav also qualified with a throw of 83.67m, while Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh did not advance to the championship round.
