World’s ‘Cheapest Hotel’ In Pakistan’ Charges Rs 20 Per Night: ‘Why Authentic Has To Be Dirty Always’

At a time when even the simplest hotel rooms can break a traveller’s budget, one place in Pakistan is proving that extremely affordable still exists, but it does have cons. Forget hostels or capsule pods – a stay here costs less than a cup of roadside chai. A video of what is being called the world’s cheapest hotel has gone viral, showing travellers can still find warmth, hospitality, and a bed for just Rupees 20 a night. A hotel in Pakistan’s Peshawar city is taking the internet by storm after a travel vlogger revealed that a night’s stay costs just 70 Pakistani rupees – roughly Rs 20 in Indian currency or 25 US cents. British travel vlogger David Simpson, known online as The Travel Fugitive, recently shared a video of his stay there. He described the experience as “unreal” and said, “I’ve stayed in five-star hotels, but the warmth I felt here is unmatched.” His post has since gone viral across social media platforms, drawing millions of views and sparking curiosity about the humble yet heartwarming place. But this one comes with a twist – there are no rooms, no air-conditioning, and no frills. Instead, guests sleep on cots (traditional woven beds) laid out on the building’s rooftop, under an open sky. Each bed costs only 70 Pakistani rupees for the night. The setup is simple – clean sheets, a fan, a shared bathroom and complimentary tea. There’s no luxury, but there’s a connection. The hotel’s owner personally welcomes every guest and often shares stories about the place’s centuries-old legacy. As the video spread online, people couldn’t stop talking about it. Some admired the simplicity, while others were stunned by how affordable it was. One user commented, “You can’t even buy street chai for 20 – this is incredible!” Another wrote, “This place has more heart than most five-star hotels.” A few joked about the open-air setup, saying it’s “perfect until the mosquitoes join the party.” Others praised the hospitality, calling it “a reminder that kindness matters more than luxury.” Despite the mixed reactions, one thing’s clear – this tiny rooftop hotel in Pakistan has won the world’s attention.
