Work to upgrade the floodlights at the sports pitches at St Margaret’s High School in Airdrie is underway – and will replace them with modern, energy-saving lights. The project is being funded by the Scotland Recycling Fund, which backs projects that help the environment and make better use of resources. Councillor Jim Logue, leader of North Lanarkshire Council , said: “The council is using money from the fund for several improvements, all helping to cut costs and reduce our environmental impact. “I’m sure that everyone who uses the pitches in the dark nights will notice the benefits too.” The work is just one of a number of planned improvements to leisure facilities, offices and schools across the area. And significant upgrades are planned in the coming months for Shotts Leisure Centre, Bellshill’s Sir Matt Busby Leisure Centre, John Smith Pool in Airdrie and Coatbridge’s The Time Capsule. *Don’t miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
