NOVI, Mich. – The Metro Detroit Women’s Expo is drawing crowds at the Suburban Collection Showplace, successfully continuing its weekend run after overcoming an early challenge from a water main break in Novi.
“It’s what’s needed. You know, we need a day for us women to come together and bond and have fun,” said Nikki West, an attendee at the annual event featuring over 250 exhibitor booths.
The expo has transformed the venue into a one-stop shop showcasing products and services related to beauty, boutiques, health and wellness.
“Just taking it all in – walking up and down the aisles – and just seeing what there is to offer,” said Jackie Caradonna, who’s a first-time guest. “So, it’s fun.”
Among the diverse offerings, visitors can sample unique local products, including Freakin’ Pickles, which boasts 17 different flavors.
“Everybody loves pickles. You can come in and try them from the garlics to the hot dills to the sweet pickles,” said Ted Harpham of Freakin’ Pickles.
The event features multiple attractions including:
A Beauty Lounge offering mini makeovers and style tips
Health & Wellness Pavilion staffed by local experts
Home improvement and organization solutions
Product sampling stations
BLINGO, a popular glamorized version of bingo with prizes
New this year, organizers wanted to highlight charity organizations doing work to help women. There are daily line-ups of presentations including how to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking on the InspireHER Stage.
When asked what organizers want women to takeaway from the event, Carmen Flores, CEO of Kohler Expos summarized her hope in two words.
“Joy. Joy and relief,” Flores said. “It’s OK. Take a deep breath. We’re carrying a lot of weight and it’s just nice to have an opportunity to pause.”
The expo concludes Sunday, running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Suburban Collection Showplace, located at 46100 Grand River Ave in Novi. Tickets are still available for purchase at the venue.
For visitors planning to attend the final day, the expo promises continued access to local boutiques, emerging brands, cooking demonstrations, and various giveaways. The popular BLINGO game offers attendees a chance to win prizes, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
