Women Allege Mistreatment At Coorg Resort, Claim Police Said They Should Have Known Kannada | Video

Two female tourists have claimed that their stay at a resort in Coorg, Karnataka, turned unpleasant due to the offensive and rude behaviour of the staff. In a video that surfaced on Instagram, the tourists were seen in the lobby of the resort, engaging in a heated exchange of words with the staff standing behind the reception desk.
As mentioned in the caption of the viral post, the tourists, who stayed at the five-star property for two nights, allegedly spent a whopping Rs 24,000. They claimed that despite the resort being listed as a five-star facility, they faced rude behaviour from the staff, which made them feel unsafe and unwelcome, especially because they were travelling alone.
In the video, one member of the staff was seen asking the visitors to “Mind your business, mind your words.” Meanwhile, another man was seen telling the two women that they couldn’t use such “language.” It is unclear from the clip what sparked the fight or what they were arguing about exactly.
Women Allege Police Official Remarked That They Should Know Kannada Before Visiting The Region
According to the two female tourists, their situation took a turn for the worse when they approached the local police to lodge a complaint against the resort. They alleged that a senior official refused to listen to their concerns, stating that he neither understands Hindi nor English. The police official even remarked that visitors who did not know the local language, Kannada, should avoid visiting the region altogether.
The two tourists also claimed that the official seemed to have sided with the resort staff, whom they described as influential in the area. Their story has caught the attention of Internet users, with many expressing concerns over the alleged mistreatment.

Internet Is Divided Over The Claims Made By The Women
“Reception talks like they own the place. Wow. She thought she was arguing with her neighbours or something. There’s a way and method to deal with difficult guests, but this aunty is shouting worse than the proprietor,” said one user.
A different individual penned, “When taking the Oath as a police officer, did they say they would communicate only in Kannada? This language nonsense by South is way beyond control.”
A section also came out in support of the staff, arguing that the two women must have used foul language that could have irked the staff. One user said, “As I have seen, staff from hospitality are the most well-mannered people. I’m sure these two ladies have cooked something.”
“I have worked in the hotel industry and such behaviour, that too in a 5-star property, can lead to Blacklist,” a comment read.
Another added, “She clearly used abusive language and then tried to defame the staff and hotel because Didi wasn’t treated like Papa ki Pari for being abusive.”
Meanwhile, one of the two women commented on the post, revealing the name of the resort. She wrote, “Hi everyone!! Later, he told us to get out or he would lock us up in a prostitution case. The name of the resort is ‘The Purple Palms Resort and Spa.’”
It is worth noting that the story that has surfaced on social media is solely based on the tourists’ version of events. Neither the resort management nor the local police has responded.
