A woman who led police on a chase after trying to break into a Derry Township elementary school last year was accepted into a rehabilitation program that will allow the charges to be wiped from her criminal record. Erica Dubose, 39, drove more than 100 miles from her Baltimore, Maryland, home to Derry Township on March 15, 2024, where she started yelling and pulling on the locked door of the township’s elementary school, police said in court documents filed at the time. She was charged with trespassing, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, disorderly conduct and trespassing by motor vehicle. Court records show Dubose was accepted on Oct. 10 into Dauphin County’s accelerated rehabilitative disposition (ARD) program. To have the charges expunged, she was ordered to complete 12 months of probation, 50 hours of community service, and undergo a mental health evaluation. Court documents that Derry Township police filed against Dubose last year gave the following account of what led to her arrest: After trying to break into the elementary school, Dubose got in her tan Toyota Camry and started to drive away, but the sedan got stuck partway over the curb by the school bus driveway. Court documents said Dubose dislodged her car as Derry Township police arrived at the school. She then led police on an 8-mile chase that ended in the ZooAmerica parking lot on Park Avenue. Dubose got out of the car and was arrested in the lot. Court documents said she refused to provide her name and was repeatedly praying to God and Jesus as she was arrested. Court documents were initially filed under “Jane Doe” while police worked to identify her. Police said officers were able to identify Dubose from the Camry’s owner registration.
