When one Texas woman sat down in the bathroom, she was not prepared to look up and notice a pair of eyes staring back at her. Sasha, 27, shared a now-viral clip of her 5-year-old cat Adel, who couldn’t resist keeping an eye on her owner—even during private moments. In the video, a pair of glowing eyes can be seen peering through the narrow crack of the bathroom door as Sasha sits down, with the caption: "You’re in the bathroom doing your business when you notice this." Why Do Cats Follow You to the Bathroom? Cats following their owner to the bathroom is nothing new. Pet site Rover says that felines often follow their humans to the bathroom for a few reasons, including curiosity, separation anxiety and just because they love their human. Other pet owners have shared how their feline friends like to join them during private moments; one clingy cat would not even leave their owner’s side while they took a shower. Sasha, who didn’t give a surname, told Newsweek that Adel’s mischievous nature often leads to funny moments like this. "When I noticed Adel peeking through the door, I wanted to laugh so hard but I didn’t want to startle her," she said. "She is a very curious and nosy cat. I bet it was not her first time. She likes spending time in the wardrobe climbing on shelves, which happens to be a perfect spot to creep on me." The moment has more than 1 million views on TikTok and sparked laughter and reaction from fellow pet owners. "The only stalker I accept in my life … My cat lmao [laughing my *** off]," posted one commenter, while another joked: "What a creep!" "An actual peeping Tom," commented a third viewer. This is not the first time Adel has made her owner laugh with unexpected behavior. "Adel has lots of funny quirks and moments; she is always up to something," Sasha said. "That’s one of the reasons I started my Instagram—to share with the world the joy she brings me every day. I was surprised the video got so much traction and I am happy so many people got a laugh out of it."
