Woman directs officers to check on suspiciously dressed person - during trick-or-treat: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio Suspicious person: Worton Boulevard A woman reported at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 31 that a group of adults and children were walking towards Ridgebury Boulevard and one woman was wearing a purple dress and carrying a knife. Despite it being during trick-or-treat hours on Halloween, the woman still suggested that it was suspicious and not normal. Responding officers found a lot of trick-or-treaters in the area but did not locate anybody matching the description. Disturbance: SOM Center Road Wendy’s management reported Oct. 31 that a customer did not want to pay the price she was given and would not leave the drive thru. Officers spoke to the woman and told her that the business could not sell the food to her at the price she wanted to pay. She and her friend subsequently left without any further incident. Disturbance: Mayfield Road A woman said Nov. 1 that she had honked her car horn at two cars in the front of her in the drive-thru line and the man in the car directly in front of her started yelling at her. She said that after he received his order, he then pulled over in the parking lot and she suspected that he was going to follow her. She believed that his reason for yelling at her was racially motivated. Officers checked the area but did not locate the man’s vehicle. Suspicious person: Landerhaven Drive A front desk clerk at the Staybridge Suites reported at 3 a.m. Nov. 3 that an angry guest yelled at her because an ice machine was not working. She said that he had last been seen leaving the hotel. Responding officers checked for the man but did not locate him. They advised the clerk to report any further disturbances. Disturbance: Mayfield Road Game Stop management reported Oct. 31 that a man tried to return a used game controller in the box of a new one he had purchased. They said he got angry and threw the item at a window when he was not allowed to make the return. Officers did not locate the man, 25, but his father came to the store and officers advised him that his son was being banned from the store and would be charged for trespassing if he returned. Theft: SOM Center Road Officers responded to Target Nov. 1 for a report of two shoplifters being uncooperative in the loss prevention office. Loss prevention said that both had concealed $219 worth of merchandise in their purses. The South Euclid woman, 28, and Kent woman, 21, were subsequently arrested for theft with the latter of the two latter of them being picked up by the Summit County Sherriff’s Office on an active warrant. Disorderly conduct: Marsol Road Two men got into a physical altercation when they returned to the Drake apartments around 3 a.m. Nov. 2 after being out drinking at a bar. One man, 39, was determined to be the primary aggressor but the other man did not want to pursue charges and said that they rarely ever have any issues. Officers, however, decided that man would be charged with disorderly conduct due to his level of intoxication and concern that he may instigate another incident at the apartment. Failure to comply: Mayfield Road Officers followed a vehicle into Gates Mills Place apartments around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 30 as they attempted to stop it for a traffic violation, but the driver continued until he got to his parking garage. He exited the car, argued with officers and disobeyed commands before trying to walk away. The man, 30, resisted officers when they then took him into custody. He explained that he did not want to stop for officers because he knew that he had warrants and was driving under suspension. He was arrested for resisting arrest and failure to comply and cited for multiple traffic violations. Theft: SOM Center Road An Ulty Beauty manager reported Nov. 3 that a woman stole a bag full of products from the store that morning. Her staff said that she and another woman left the area in a van being driven by a man. Officers were able to contact the registered owner of the van and through investigation, identified the suspects as a 37-year-old New Franklin woman and issued a warrant for her arrest.
