Police are investigating the assault of a 33-year-old woman who was allegedly beaten by her former partner and two male relatives in Maloney Gardens early Monday morning. According to police reports, around 2:30 a.m., the woman went to the home of her former boyfriend in Maloney Gardens, D’Abadie, where an altercation occurred involving the man, his brother, and their stepfather, who is said to be a police officer. The woman reportedly left the residence following the confrontation but was allegedly followed, restrained against her will, and forcibly taken back into the yard, where she was beaten by the three men. Police said the assailants kicked and cuffed her about the body, causing serious injuries. She was taken to the Arima Health Facility by officers of the Maloney Police Station, where she was treated by a doctor and later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. She was listed in stable but critical condition, having suffered two broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a head laceration.
