Woman arrested, accused in fatal Oceanside hit-and-run

A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash late Thursday in Oceanside, and officers later found and arrested a 65-year-old woman as the suspected driver, Oceanside police said Friday.
The collision was reported to police just after 10:20 p.m. on eastbound Oceanside Boulevard just west of El Camino Real, the law enforcement agency said in a news release. The man who was struck sustained fatal injuries. His identity has not been confirmed.
Police investigators, using city surveillance cameras and license plate reader technology, identified the vehicle that struck the man as a 2020 Ford Ranger.
Officers contacted the registered owner, identified by police as Yolanda Orozco, at her home. They also located the vehicle, which the department said “had evidence consistent with the collision.”
Police said Orozco admitted she had been driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, and alleged that she “showed signs of intoxication.”
Orozco was arrested and booked in jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
