Aurora Cedars School, in Compton Road West, has 63 pupils aged 5-19 with predominantly diagnoses of autism, social anxiety and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Its catchment area includes Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall and Staffs. The school is run by The Aurora Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of education, care and support services for children and young people with additional needs. Headteacher Tom Hind said he was grateful to Mr Juss for taking the time to discover the work being done at his school. He added: “We were able to demonstrate the ways in which the school delivers personalised learning experiences for our pupils and how this high level of care for each individual contributes to their personal development.” Mr Juss, a Labour MP since 2024, said: “It was a privilege to visit Aurora Cedars School and witness first-hand the dedication of staff and the tailored support being provided to children and young people with SEND. Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and schools like Aurora Cedars are helping to make that a reality.” Accompanying Mr Juss on his visit was The Aurora Group’s CEO Kelvin Donald. He said: “Specialist schools such as Aurora Cedars School are equipped with highly skilled teaching, support and therapeutic teams that are specifically geared towards helping young people achieve their potential in all aspects of their lives. “At The Aurora Group, we’re proud of the difference we’re making to the lives of children, young people and adults with SEND.” The visit coincided with the school’s pre-half-term, inclusive sporting event that saw students compete against teachers in a football match in Compton Park.
