With Brian Strusz retiring, PV begins superintendent search

Pleasant Valley School District is considering three search firms to help it find its next superintendent.
Superintendent Brian Strusz has announced he will retire after the end of the current school year.
Strusz has worked in PV for 30 years as a teacher, dean, associate principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. He said he is happy with where the district is and thought it was time to relax and spend time with family.
Now, the school board is working to find his replacement. They made their first step Tuesday by selecting three search firms to consider hiring for the search. The three firms are Grundmeyer Leader Services; Hazard, Young and Attea; and Ray and Associates.
The district will send pre-interview questions to the firms and will expect responses by Oct. 14 for review. Following review of the pre-interview questions, they will send more in-depth questions.
On Oct. 20, the firms are invited to the board meeting for an interview and will be expected to have a presentation ready for the board.
Strusz said he is confident that the board will find somebody they can trust to be the next superintendent.
“Our school board is a phenomenal board, and I have the full most utmost confidence in what they do, and that we will have a great process, that we will find someone that has the beliefs and values that we have when it comes to education our kids and involving our community in education,” Strusz said.
Strusz’s tenure will end on June 30.
