Wishaw couple celebrate 65th wedding anniversary in style

There was plenty of love, laughter, and a touch of Blue Sapphire sparkle at Beechwood Care Home in Wishaw as residents and staff helped Mr and Mrs Bowman celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. Janette, known fondly as Janet, and her husband Jim Bowman enjoyed a wonderful afternoon surrounded by family, friends, and their Beechwood family. There was music, cake, and plenty of reminiscing as the couple marked more than six decades of marriage with staff and family members. The pair first met at the Lanark Palace ‘Dancing The Pally’ as it was affectionately known, where sparks quickly flew. At the time, Jim was working as a shepherd, and Janet often joined him during lambing season, helping to feed the lambs. As Janet joked: “I think that’s how he won me over!” The couple married in Bonkle Parish Church in 1960 and have lived in Wishaw since 1968, raising a close-knit family of three sons, six grandchildren, and eight great- grandchildren. Jim was visibly moved by the celebration and shared his gratitude with staff, saying: “You really went the extra mile.” Janet, who has been a resident at Beechwood Care Home for two years, has made remarkable progress since moving in. Once hesitant to go out and about, she now enjoys socialising and taking part in activities – something her family says has brought a new sparkle to her days. Cathy Togneri, Service Manager at Beechwood Care Home said: “It was a real privilege to celebrate such an incredible milestone with Janet and Jim. “Their love story is truly inspiring, and our team were delighted to make their day extra special. We always say that Beechwood is one big family, and this day really showed that.” Janet added: “We’ve shared a wonderful life together, full of laughter and love. It means the world to us that everyone made such an effort, we’ll remember this day for a long time.” Beechwood Care Home, part of the Holmes Care Group, provides compassionate residential and nursing care in a warm and welcoming environment.
