Wishaw charity marks 10 years of mental health support through performing arts

A decade of creativity, community, and recovery was celebrated in Wishaw this week as Fool On, a pioneering mental health support group, marked its 10th anniversary at Pather Arts Centre. Fool On was started by people who had experienced mental health issues and found that performing arts helped them recover. Over the past decade, the group has grown into a well-known support organisation across Lanarkshire, offering free weekly workshops in music, singing, comedy, and songwriting. With weekly workshops across Lanarkshire offering free guitar, singing, songwriting, and stand-up comedy sessions, the group has become a lifeline for many. The anniversary event featured performances from members and showcased the transformative power of the arts in mental health recovery. Speaking at the celebration, Depute Provost Bob Burgess praised the group stating: “Fool On is a shining example of how creativity and community can change lives. Over the past ten years, they’ve helped countless individuals find their voice, build confidence, and rediscover joy. I look forward to seeing their continued success.” To find out more or get involved, visit foolon.co.uk. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. Sign up to our newsletters here .
