EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Eau Claire County Democrats are hitting the streets to garner support for next year’s midterm elections. Party members and volunteers met at the Eau Claire office Saturday to start a year of knocking on doors. The hope is to appeal to undecided voters by focusing on economic issues. Rebecca Cooke is one of the candidates looking to win the Democratic nomination in 2026. “Today is the day that open enrollment officially opens, and I know that a lot of people are going to be frustrated to see that their ACA subsidies are not going to be there for them,” said Cooke. “And Democrats are working hard to make sure that folks have access to the health care that they need.” Emily Berge is also running for the democratic nomination. Laura Benjamin dropped out of the race more than a month ago.
