President Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposal of the government to convene the Winter Session of Parliament from December 1 to December 19, 2025, subject to the exigencies of parliamentary business. Announcing the development, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated, “The Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Winter Session of Parliament from 1st December 2025 to 19th December, 2025 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business).” The statement further added, “Looking forward to a constructive and meaningful session that strengthens our democracy and serves the aspirations of the people.” The Monsoon Session of the Parliament saw stormy debates between the government and the Opposition over issues, including the April 26 Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent ‘Operation Sindoor’ against terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha also faced continuous disruptions during the Monsoon Session over the opposition’s demand for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. Disruptions by Opposition MPs were also witnessed after they tore up a bill that sought the removal of the Prime Minister, chief ministers, and ministers facing serious criminal charges. With both the Houses witnessing repeated adjournments due to disruptions throughout the session, the productivity of Lok Sabha was about 31 per cent, and that of Rajya Sabha was about 39 per cent. In the Lok Sabha, discussions could happen for only 37 hours out of the total available 120 hours and in the Rajya Sabha, discussions took place for 41 hours and 15 minutes. A total of 15 bills were passed by Parliament during the session. ALSO READ | ‘Rahul Gandhi Spoke Of H-Bomb, Couldn’t Light A Firecracker’: Rajnath Singh On ‘Vote Theft’ Claims
