Wilma Joyce Collins Moore, 89, of Lake Charles died on Nov. 3, 2025 at Harbor Hospice. Wilma was born in Opelousas, La., July 23, 1936, to Willie Mae and Claude Collins. In 1943, she moved with her parents to Lake Charles, La., where she resided for 82 years until her death. She was a graduate of Central School, Lake Charles High School, and McNeese State University. Wilma married Roy Allen Moore, the love of her life, Mar. 29,1956. They were blessed with children, Cindy Lynn Moore (Crowe) of Lake Charles, La. and Todd Allen Moore of Lewes Delaware; four grandchildren, Ginger Lynn Crowe, Robert Allen Stone Crowe, Shelbi Ann Crowe, and Brandon Lee Moore, and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Elaine Crowe. Wilma retired from McNeese State University in 1994, after many years of service and served as an Associate Professor, Department of Office Systems and Business Communication, College of Business, and five years as Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning for the University. In 1985, she was named the Outstanding Post-Secondary Educator by the Louisiana Association of Business Educators. She also received an Outstanding Teacher Award in the college of Business from Phi Chi Theta (1985). She was a co-author of a college textbook BUSINESS COMMUNICATION (published by Rand McNally College Publishing Company), 1980. Wilma loved life, playing tennis and bridge, having fun, slumber parties, dances, birthday parties, Mardi Gras celebrations, and gatherings with family and friends. She loved God, prayed daily, attended Church, taught Sunday school, studied the Bible (Bible Study Fellowship), and served on the Alter Guild and Vestry at (St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church). Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Claude Collins; her husband of 54 years, Roy Allen “Toddy” Moore, and her son-in-law, Robert David Stone Crowe. She is survived by her children, Cindy Lynn Moore Crowe and Todd Allen Moore; her grandchildren, Ginger Lynn Crowe, Robert Allen Stone Crowe, Shelbi Ann Crowe, Brandon Lee Moore, and her great-granddaughter, Caroline Elaine Crowe, Robert David Crowe, Sunny Louise Crowe. Funeral services will be on Nov. 7, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lake Charles, La. The Very Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. A private burial for the family will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lake Charles, La.
