COLLEGE ATHLETICS
Following a national trend started by Power Four schools, William & Mary has hired a general manager for athletics.
Larry Pulley, a 1974 graduate of W&M and former dean of W&M’s Raymond A. School of Business, will occupy the position on an interim basis, athletic director Brian Mann announced Wednesday.
Pulley will serve for the next year. One of his duties will be to help develop the position description for the full-time GM who could succeed him.
“In this new era of intercollegiate athletics, general managers are handling the critical areas of roster management, the transfer portal, NIL, potential player revenue sharing and strategic planning,” Mann said. “Larry has the superb skills and experience to help W&M deal most productively with how we conform to the new NCAA regulations and potential revenue streams while reflecting W&M’s vision and values.”
Pulley said, “My experience in budgets, strategic planning, personnel and financial issues will be of great benefit as we explore how we can best support our coaches and student-athletes.”
