Wild theory Prince William can't read, is 'functionally illiterate' and prefers Batman films

Prince William has been branded "functionally illiterate" with bizarre claims he can't read. Eagled-eyed fans and authors have pieced together there clues and they're wild. The future King has been noted by royal biographers as being unable to name a favourite author. And he will be the first monarch in several generations not to have read Walter Bagehot’s The English Constitution, which explores the constitution of the United Kingdom, insiders say. Royal observers noted he is not a great reader and he prefers oral briefings to written ones, and that he's more of “box-set guy” who loves “Batman-related” superhero movies. Writer Will Lloyd, who penned a lengthy article detailing why the monarchy should be abolished , said: "William, the next in line to the throne, sounds functionally illiterate." He wrote in the New Statesman : "In some respects William might simply reflect what the average British bloke is like today. But average isn’t the expectation of the Crown, and he differs a great deal from Charles and his grandmother. "Thanks to Valentine Low, another long-time royal observer, we learn that: 'William is not a great reader: he prefers an oral briefing.' "In Power and the Palace, Low reports that William will be the first monarch in several generations not to have read Walter Bagehot’s The English Constitution. Read between the lines. What are they telling you?" He went on in a podcast: "I'm reading between the lines here, but are we going to have a monarch who either can't or doesn't want to read inside the next 10 or 20 years? You can't have a monarch who doesn't read and this will create a big political difficulty. "It's really interesting. One of the scenarios I brought up in the piece, you may remember August 2019, the prorogation of parliament. It was a moment of constitutional outrage. "There was a very interesting piece in the Sunday Times in 2021 where Prince William's friends told the newspaper that William didn't like what Boris had done and things would be different when William was in charge. "He wouldn't just follow advice, which is the constitutional role of the monarch apparently, he would challenge advice. And that was when I could tell OK, William is going to be a problem for the monarchy because he doesn't understand what his job is. "And that not understanding, that thinking that he can do whatever he wants — coupled with his anger — there lies a future landmine." William, the eldest son of King Charles and late wife Princess Diana, is next in line for the throne. But Young argues monarchy should be abolished. He wrote: "What exactly is being protected at this stage? None of the arguments for paying to feed and water the Windsors make much sense any more. The Windsors provide stability. The Windsors provide pageantry. "The Windsors, being 'above' politics, never meddle in its process. The Windsors are an amorphous but vital part of our national identity, like the word 'decency' and our unsettling tendency to prefer animals to foreigners. "Taken together, these arguments amount not to a sturdy ballast for constitutional monarchy, but to Windsorism, an increasingly senile belief system."
