The conference, which focuses on the mobile network ecosystem, will feature representatives from 60 countries, more than 40% of whom hold leadership positions.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the GSMA Association held a press conference Tuesday, during which Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Communications Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, CEO of GSMA John Hoffman, Director of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry Khalid Tais Al Jumaili, and Chief Marketing Officer at GSMA Lara Dewar discussed the latest updates and details regarding the inaugural edition of MWC25 Doha, and the importance of this event in enhancing the mobile network ecosystem and operations.

HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai said: “Hosting the inaugural MWC25 Doha is an important milestone for Qatar and for the region. It reflects our commitment not only to advancing digital transformation under the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030, but also to positioning Doha as a global meeting point for technology, policy, and innovation”.

“By joining Qatar’s calendar of leading global technology events, MWC25 Doha strengthens Qatar’s position as a destination for technology dialogue, digital transformation in the region, and fostering global collaboration. Together with GSMA, we bring the world’s leading voices in ICT to Doha for the first time, to explore the future of AI, 5G, and digital economies, His Excellency added.

The press briefing was followed by the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) agreements with Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), Qatar University, Media City Qatar, Ooredoo, and Vodafone in support of the inaugural MWC Doha.

Al Mansoori stated that hosting the MWC25 Doha Conference in collaboration with the GSMA Association affirms international confidence in Qatar’s position as a pivotal hub in the information and communications technology sector.

She explained that the conference serves as a strategic platform aimed at bringing together top leaders, innovators, and investors from around the world to shape shared visions and pioneering solutions that drive the global digital economy forward.

This collaboration, she noted, strengthens Qatar’s role as a regional and global center for digital transformation, in alignment with the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Mansoori highlighted that performance indicators in the ICT sector reflect Qatar’s growing stature on the global digital stage, with sector revenues exceeding 11.4 billion Qatari riyals in 2024.

She affirmed that the market is experiencing sustainable growth, with projections indicating the data center market will reach $259 million by 2029 and the cloud computing market $303 million by 2026, underscoring Qatar’s advanced digital environment and its role as a regional and global hub for digital innovation.

For his part, John Hoffman said that Qatar’s hosting of this global event is clear evidence of its expanding role in supporting digital innovation both regionally and internationally, and reflects its ambitious vision to build a sophisticated knowledge-based economy.

He added that MWC25 Doha forms a strategic bridge connecting the Middle East with the world, embodying GSMA’s commitment to empowering communities through technology and strengthening partnerships to build a more connected and innovative future.
